Project Stories

The planning grant generated a flurry of new activity and relationships in just five months. At first glance the activities may seem to be all over the map: In some cases the anchor or initial inspiration was an MIT course, in others a professional meeting, and in others an experience for the public. The overarching thread? To learn as much as possible by exploring what happens when stakeholders from the domains of neuroscience, ELSI scholarship, and public engagement get together to all contribute to and benefit from a shared experience.

The stories of the planning grant told here are written from the perspective of the project's writer-in-residence, Maura Kelly. She was joined by Jean Cummings to serve as the two journalists working to accurately report what they observed, heard, and experienced.
